TV stations
have really made good use of well established time slots to bring top
viewing.
The “Hey! Hey! it’s Saturday” show was
welcomed greatly at it’s time slot of
Saturday early evenings. For Perth in the glory of the 80s, that meant
keeping
a lot of kids and young adults alike out of trouble for
at least a couple of
hours.
A great
deal of time and effort is required to bring television to a city, let
alone a
greater part of the world. Having worked with some of the most
successful

The Marvel
comics have brought a tsunami of high-rated movies to the box office.
“Star Trek”
– redone, what a bunch of talented, well organized, dedicated
and happy people
the makers are. Quality and team-work of this type are exceptions in
our world.
I was
introduced to a spectacularly odd and fundamentally gripping film by a
friend I
worked with at Master Control in Channel 9 Perth.
I had never
seen this film before and though I enjoyed my sci-fi I had been
continually
disgruntled by the poor attempts to work electronic systems and
interfacing
within a good plot. Some notable movies like “Lawnmower
Man” and “Tron”
captured this well, but most did not.
The movie
is called “Paycheck” released in 2003 - it stars
Ben Affleck and Uma Therman
and a few other notable actors.
The theme
is on reverse engineering of very high-profile hardware, Ben Affleck is
asked
to reverse engineer a device that allows time travel and I think you
can see
where this is going. I absolutely recommend this film to couples as the
line up
of female stars really lends the movie it’s track of drama
while still submerging
the ladies in the conflicts.
Asking a
friend about their special movies can surprise you sometimes, and you
might
even find out something you didn’t know about them, which is
always nice.
